Wide is the way that leads to destruction and pleasure it brings, but bitter will be its end in the last day, when the soul shall be parted from the body: beware of these, man, for the sake of the Theotokos.

Why hast thou forgotten God; for hire holdest thou back thy neighbour; thy brother thou lovest not; sin and pride thou drivest forth; leave thee, O soul of mine, and repent for the sake of Jesus Christ.

O senseless man, until when wilt thou gather for thyself, as the bee, wealth; soon shalt thou perish, being but dust and ashes: but rather seek the Kingdom of God.

O Theotokos, have mercy on me, a sinner, and strengthen me in virtues, and keep me, that the shameless death may not seize me unprepared, and lead me, O King, to Thy Kingdom.
