Yirmos: From the flames of the holy rose thou wast quenched, / and by the just sacrifice thou wast consumed: / for thou didst create all things, O Lord, according to thy will, / and exalt us in all ages.

Response: Have mercy on me, O Lord, have mercy on me.

As I have no pleasure in sighing, when I think of death; for I saw lying in the grave my brother, without glory and unknown: what shall I hope for; and on what shall I rely? Only let me now before the end confess thee, O Lord.

Response: Have mercy on me, O Lord, have mercy on me.

I believe, because Thou art come to judge the living and the dead, and all shall stand in their own rank, the old and the young, the lords and princes, the maidens and the virgins: where I shall find myself, for this sake I cry: grant me repentance before death.

Refrain: Having lifted up the Theotokos, save us.

Pricking Thee, O Theotokos, receive my unworthy prayer, and preserve me from presumptuous death, and grant me repentance before the end.
