God, out of His infinite mercy and love for fallen man, gave him the hope of deliverance from the consequences of sin: from the power of the devil and eternal death; He promised that a Savior would be born from his wife, who would defeat the devil. This Savior was the only begotten Son of God, who came to earth, received a human body from the Holy Spirit and the Blessed Virgin Mary, and with His blood redeemed man from sin, from eternal death and the power of the devil.
