What is daily bread?
Bread, necessary in order to exist or live.
With what thoughts should one bring a petition to God for daily bread?
According to the instructions of our Lord Jesus Christ, one should ask for no more than daily bread, that is, the necessary food, and also the clothing and shelter necessary for life; and what is beyond this and serves not so much for need as for pleasure, then commit it to the will of God, and if it is given, thank God; if it is not given, do not care.
Why is it commanded to ask for daily bread only today, that is, for this day?
So that we do not worry too much about the future, but rely on God for that.
Do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things: each day’s own troubles are sufficient (Matthew 6:34).
Because your Father in heaven knows that you need all this (Matthew 6:32).
Is it possible to ask for something else under the name of daily bread?
Since man consists of a physical and spiritual being, and the being of the soul is much more important than the body, then one can and should ask for daily bread for the soul, without which the inner man dies of hunger. (See: Cyril of Jerusalem. Mystical Teaching, 4th, 15. Orthodox Confession.

What could be the daily bread for the soul?
The Word of God, and the Body and Blood of Christ.
Man will not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God (Matt. 4:4; Deut. 8:3).
My flesh is truly food, and My blood is truly drink (John 6:55).
