Troparion of prophecy, tone 6:

O Benevolent, Long-suffering, Almighty Lord, send down Thy mercy upon Thy people.

Glory, and now: and we repeat the same.

Troparion of prophecy, tone 6: Kind-hearted, long-suffering, Almighty Lord, send down Your mercy to Your people!

Glory, even now: and we repeat the same troparion.

Prokeimenon (Psalm 96), voice 6: The Lord reigns,/ let the earth rejoice.

Verse: Let the many islands rejoice.

Prokeimenon (Psalm 96), tone 6: The Lord reigns - let the earth rejoice!

Verse: Let the numerous islands rejoice!

Reading the prophecies of Isaiah. [Isa.42:5-16]

Thus says the Lord God, who created the heavens and set them up, establish the earth and what is on it, and give breath to the people who are on it, and spirit to those who walk on it. I am the Lord God, I have called you in righteousness, and I will hold your hand, and strengthen you: and I gave you for the covenant of the generation of Israel, for the light of the nations, to open the eyes of the blind, news from those who are bound, and from the prison house, and from those who sit in darkness. I am the Lord God, this is My name: My glory I will not give to another, lower than My virtues to the graven image. Even from the beginning, behold, it has come: and a new one, which I will proclaim, and which I did not proclaim before, has appeared to you. Sing to the Lord a new song: His principality, glorify His name from the end of the earth: you who go down to the sea, and those who sail on it, the islands and those who dwell on them. The wilderness rejoiced, and the rulers thereof, and the courtiers, and they that dwell in Kedar: they that dwell on the rocks shall rejoice, they shall cry from the ends of the mountains. They will give glory to God and proclaim his virtues throughout the islands.

The Lord God of might will come out and crush the army, stir up zeal, and cry out against His enemies with might. I’ll keep silent, I’ll always be silent, and I’ll be patient? I will destroy and dry up the mountains and the hills, and I will dry up all their grass, and I will make rivers into islands, and I will dry up the meadows. And I will cause the blind to walk in a way that they have not seen, and to walk in paths that they do not know: I will make darkness into light for them, and darkness into light. I will create these verbs, and I will not forsake them.

Reading the prophecy of Isaiah [42:5–16]

Thus says the Lord God, who created heaven and strengthened it, who established the earth and what is on it, and who gives breath to the people on it and spirit to those who walk on it. “I, the Lord God, have called You in righteousness, and I will hold Your hand, and I will strengthen You, and I will appoint You as a covenant for the race of Israel, as a light for the nations, to open the eyes of the blind, to bring out of the bound bonds and from the house of prison those who sit in darkness. I am the Lord God, this is My name, I will not give My glory to another and My virtues to idols. What was foretold at the beginning has been fulfilled, and the new things that I will now proclaim have been revealed to you before they are announced.” Sing a new song to the Lord, His power is glorified, His name is glorified from the ends of the earth, going down to the sea and floating on it, the islands and those living on them! Rejoice, desert and its villages, villages and those who live in Kedar! Those who live on the rocks will rejoice; they will shout from the tops of the mountains. They will give glory to God and His virtue will be proclaimed on the islands.

The Lord God of hosts will come out and crush the army, arouse zeal, give a sign and exclaim with power to His enemies: “I have been silent from eternity; Will I really always be silent and endure? I endured pains like a woman in labor; I will proclaim and destroy and dry up at the same time. I will lay waste the mountains and hills, and dry up all their grass, and make the rivers into islands, and dry up the lakes. And I will lead the blind in a way which they have not known, and I will make them walk in paths which they have not known; I will make darkness light for them and crooked things straight. These words I will fulfill for them and will not forsake them,” says the Lord.

Prokeimenon (Psalm 97), tone 6: Sing to the Lord a new song, for the Lord has done a marvelous thing, / His right hand will save him.

Verse: You have seen all the ends of the earth the salvation of our God.

Prokeimenon (Psalm 97), tone 6: Sing a new song to the Lord, for He has done wondrous things, the right hand of the Lord has saved him.

Verse: All the ends of the earth have seen God our salvation!
