Lord, I know that one remembrance of You and one humble knee-bow to Your glory and honor is incomparably more valuable than all the treasures of the world; I also think that every time, having driven away negligence, we force ourselves to do our due work with diligence, the Angels in heaven are preparing for us a crown of glorious victory; and that for the careless You not only do not have crowns, but little by little you take back from them those gifts that you gave before for your diligent service to You, and finally, you will deprive them of Your Kingdom if they remain in negligence, as in the parable of those who were called to the evening and were too lazy to come, You said, Lord: I tell you that not a single man of those who are called will taste My supper (Luke 14, 24). I know that this is the fate of the careless; to those who are thorough and force themselves without self-pity to do every good deed, You multiply Your grace-filled gifts here and prepare an ever-blessed life in Your Heavenly Kingdom. Grant, O Lord, that Your words may also come true on me: The Kingdom of God is in need, and the needy women delight it (Matthew 11:12).
