I thank Thee, O Lord my God, because Thou hast not left me to sin, but hast vouchsafed to me the fellowship of Thy holy ones. I thank Thee, because Thou hast made me worthy to partake of Thine heavenly and merciful gifts. But, O Lover of mankind, for our sake didst Thou die and rise again, granting us fearful yet life-giving mysteries, for the healing of our souls and bodies, that we may be healed in soul and body, in the burning away of all that resists, in the enlightenment of the inner heart, in the peace of our spiritual powers, in an unworthy but blameless faith, in a sincere love, in the fulfillment of wisdom, in the keeping of Thy commandments, in the application of Thine divine grace and Thy holy priesthood: that we may be preserved in Thy fellowship, always remembering Thee with thanksgiving, and not live for ourselves alone, but for Thee our Master and Benefactor. Thus having lived out this hope of eternal life, we have attained to a present rest, where the voice of the unrestrained rejoicing is heard, and an unending sweetness is seen in Thy goodness beyond utterance. For Thou art the true desire, O Lord my God, and the unspeakable joy of them that love Thee; Thou dost keep us, O our God, and all things praise Thee for ever. Amen.
Mercy of the holy basil of great stature, Thee:
O Master Jesus Christ, King of ages, and Sustainer of all, I thank Thee from all my heart, wherefore Thou hast given me good things, and by partaking of Thy pure and life-giving Mysteries. Pray for me, O Lover of mankind, that under the shelter of Thy roof Thou wilt keep me, and in the chambers of Thy wings: grant me a clean conscience even to my last hour of death, worthy to partake of Thy Mysteries, with forgiveness of sins, and into eternal life. For Thou art the Bread of Life, the Fount of Salvation, Giver of good things; and unto Thee we send glory, together with the Father and the Holy Spirit, now and ever, and unto ages of ages. Amen.
