Mercy and judgment I sing to Thee, O Lord: I sing and understand the path of innocence when Thou comest unto me; in sorrow of heart I have passed through my house, midst its doors. I did not offer before Thy eyes any thing sinful, doing deeds of transgression I hated. My heart was not stubborn, clinging to the deceitful one, for I knew him not: deceiving the sincere, from this I drove him away; proud and unsatisfied with his heart, with him I did not dwell. My fathers on the faithful earth have planted with me: walking in the path of innocence, he served me. In my thoughts I did not make a show of pride: speaking unjustly, I did not correct myself before Thy eyes. At dawn I drove away all sinful lands, to take from the city where Thou dwellest all deeds of lawlessness.
