O All-Ruling Lord, Word of God, most perfect Son, Jesus Christ, many prayers for me, Thy servant, have never ceased to beseech Thee; but ever abide in me. O Jesus Christ, Good Shepherd of Thy flocks, deliver me not into the hands of the slanderers and do not abandon me to the desire of Satan, who dwells within me, for indeed there is sin in him. Thou art the Lord, blessed Jesus Christ, lying prostrate before Thee, holy Theotokos, sleeping preserved by an unquenchable light in Thy dwelling, where Thou didst rest Thy divine Person as Teacher. Give also to me, Thy unworthy servant, peace on my bed: enlighten my soul with Thy light of understanding, love Thee with a loving heart, and with heartfelt words teach me the truth of Thy Word, sanctify my body by Thine unpassionate strength: preserve my thoughts in Thy humility, and raise me up at the time to be like Thy glorious praise for ever. O Lord, heavenly King, Comforter, O Spirit of Truth, Thou hast humbled Thyself, and hast pitied me, the sinful servant of Thine; forgive me, who am unworthy, and blot out my unworthiness, and forgive all, forasmuch as I have sinned today, more than a man, even as a beast: both voluntary sins and involuntary, known and unknown, from youth, from ignorance, and whatsoever are now. For by Thy Name I confess, and have blasphemed Thee in thought; I have envied, I have grieved, I have judged, I have been angry, I have lied, I have labored in vain, I have despised the poor, I have vexed my brother, I have wronged my sister, I have quarreled, I have exalted myself, I have been angered: I have stood at prayer, by my sinfulness moved me to weep with Thee in this world; I have had evil thoughts, I have sinned against Thee, and Thou art the numberless sins of mine: I have not watched in prayer, and I know not what else I have done wickedly. Forbid me, O Creator, Thy unworthy servant, and forgive me, and blot out, for Thou art good and Lover of mankind; that I may lie down in peace, rest, and sleep, the sinner, the sinful, and the penitent: and I will fall down and praise Thee, and glorify Thy most holy Name, with the Father and the Son, now and ever, and to the ages of ages. Amen.

What hast thou brought, or what wilt thou give, O great-gifted immortal King, most bountiful and loving of souls; for having been idle in thy desire, and doing nothing good, thou didst bring me to the end of this day, turning and saving my soul. Be mindful of my sinfulness, O Lord, and of my nakedness in all my works: raise up my fallen soul, which was defiled by countless sins, and let all my evil thoughts be made visible in this life. Forgive my transgressions, O only sinless One; for I have sinned today both knowingly and unknowingly, by word, deed, thought, and all my senses. Thou thyself coverest me from every opposing resistance with thine ineffable love and power. Cleanse, O Lord, the multitude of my sins. Willingly grant me deliverance from the nets of the crafty one, and save my sinful soul, and enlighten me with the light of thy face: when thou comest in glory. And let not this sleep find me now unawares; and let not my thoughts be without purpose: and keep the mind of thy servant undefiled, and utterly destroy from me all the works of Satan: and enlighten our understanding hearts, that we may not fall into death. Send us an angel of peace, guardian and instructor of soul and body, that he may deliver me from my enemies: when I arise with my spirit, bring to thee my thanksgiving prayers. O Lord, hear thy sinful and righteous servant, by will and conscience: give me to learn by thy words, and let the evil spirits be driven far from me by thy angels: and bless thou mine holy Theotokos, who gave us a sinless intercession for us, and receive this praying one for us: for we well know that thy love follows us, and our prayers do not cease. By this intercession, and by the sign of thy cross, and all thy saints, keep my godly soul with thee: for thou art, and art glorified to the ages. Amen.
Lord God, our Judge, who hast judged us today in word, deed and thought, because Thou art merciful and lover of mankind, forgive us. Give me a tranquil sleep and an untroubled heart, Thy angel guardian sent to watch over and keep me from every evil: for Thou art the Guardian of souls and bodies of ours, and unto Thee we send glory, Father, and Son, and Holy Spirit, now and ever, and to the ages of ages. Amen.
O Lord our God, in whom we have believed, and to Whose name we invoke all others: grant us, as we depart hence, to weaken our soul and body, and keep us from every vain desire; and let the dark pleasures be other than these alone: preserve in us the longing for passions, quench the kindled rising of bodily desires. Grant us a blameless life of deeds and words: that we may receive with good hope Thy blessed gifts, as Thou art blessed for ever. Amen.

O Lord Jesus Christ, our God, in Thy holy presence, for the sake of Thine most precious Mother and the angelic hosts without form, who are prophets and bearers of glad tidings to Thee, O God-loving apostles, light-bearing martyrs, venerable and life-bearers, and all saints by their prayers, deliver me from the present possession of the evil one. Be Thou, my Creator, unwilling that death come upon the sinner, but as Thou didst turn him back to life, grant also to me a turning back through Thy merciful acceptance and unworthiness: change me from the harmful words of sin, speaking to devour me, and lead me alive into hell. Be Thou, my Comforter, for which I have been covered in corruptible flesh, and wrest me away from the state of being covered, and let compunction come to my soul by being covered. Imprint Thy commandments upon my heart, and put away the works of darkness, and receive the blessings of Thine: for unto Thee have I entrusted myself, save me.
Stága Petra stúdijskágwa:
O Soul of Peter, student's,
Petra's Soul, of the student's,
Thy study was fervent and zealous,
Thy heart was filled with compunction and tenderness.
Always Thou didst seek the truth,
Sudden were not Thy efforts, but ever constant.
Thou wast a stranger in this world,
A creature led astray by deceit.
The spectacle of vanity Thou sawest clearly,
And Thy heart yearned for the glory of God.
O Soul of Peter, student's,
Thy right hand was mighty in prayer,
Thy arm strong in mercy and compassion.
Ever didst Thou seek the righteousness of God,
And Thy spirit longed for His divine presence.
In Thee we see the image of a true disciple,
Who sought not earthly glory but heavenly.
O Peter, student's Soul,
Thy life was a testament to faith and hope,
A light shining in the darkness of this world.
May our hearts be ever drawn to Thee,
That we too may seek the life eternal.

To Thee, O Most Pure Mother of God, with great reverence I fall down and pray: Lord, King, because continually I sin against Thee and Thy Son, and many times I confess, finding myself in a lie before God, and trembling in confession: will Thou indeed smite me, and again weigh heavily upon me at the appointed time. Knowing this, O my Lady Theotokos, my Master, I pray Thee, to have mercy on me, to strengthen me, and to grant good works. For, O my Lord, because with all my heart I hate the deeds of my sin, and with all my mind I love Thy Law: but I do not know, O Most Pure Mother, from whence I should hate, that I might also love, and thus commit evil. Do not allow, O Most Pure Mother, my will to accomplish these things, for it is not good; but may Thy will and the will of Thy Son be done: that Thou mayest save me, enlighten me, and grant eternal mercy to this servant, so that I might cease from all unclean deeds, and have lived henceforth in obedience to Thee, which is meet for all glory, honor, and power, with Thee, the Father, and the Holy Spirit, now and ever, and unto the ages of ages. Amen.

Who loveth not us and yet obeyeth us, forgive him, O Lover of mankind. Bless those who bless us; grant to our brothers and kinsmen gifts for salvation and eternal life. Visit the sick, and grant healing. Govern them in the sea of trials. Journey with those who journey. Support the Christians. Give grace to the serving and loving ones, that they may be forgiven their sins. Pray for the unworthy as thou art merciful; forgive according to thy great mercy. Remember before Thee our fathers and brothers departed this life, and repose them where Thou sittest with Thy light. Remember also our brethren in captivity, and deliver them from every adversity. Remember those who bear fruit and do good deeds in Thy churches, and grant them salvation and eternal life. Remember us, O humble, sinful, and unworthy servants of Thee, and enlighten our hearts with the light of Thine understanding, and guide us on the way of Thy commandments: through thy prayers glorify the Lady, our Theotokos, and all Thy saints for ever and ever. Amen.

I confess to Thee, O Lord God my Creator and in the Holy Trinity, glorified and worshipped, Father, and Spirit, and Power, all my sins, wherewith I have sinned before Thee, O Lord God, throughout all my days of life, and at every hour, and in this present time, and in past days and nights: by deeds, words, thoughts, meditations, drunkenness, secret doings, festive talk, weeping, laziness, lying, disobedience, slander, accusation, negligence, self-love, many-jointedness, theft, unrighteous speaking, foul gain, hypocrisy, envy, wrath, memory of evil, hatred, malice, and all my feelings: by sight, hearing, tasting, smelling, touching, and other sins, both spiritual and bodily, with which I have provoked Thee, O Lord God, and wronged my neighbor. Wailing over these, I confess to Thee, O Lord God, and have the will to be reconciled: truly, O Lord, help me; with tears I beseech Thee: and may Thy mercy forgive all past sins, for Thou art good and lover of mankind.
Mercy of the holy and venerable John Damascus,
who pointed to thy wound, saith:
"Let not thine heart be troubled,
for though the wound is deep,
the Physician of souls is mighty.
For though the flesh may suffer,
the Spirit is not deceived;
though the body may bleed,
the soul is unharmed.
Therefore, do not fear the visible,
but trust in the invisible;
do not despair of the mercy
that can heal all wounds."
Thus spake the venerable John Damascus.
O Master, lover of mankind, wilt Thou indeed suffer this my tomb to be; or yet enlighten still my soul by Thy day? Lo, before me is a tomb, lo, death stands facing me. In Thy judgment I fear, and endless torments; but not ceaseth the creating: ever in Thee doth the Lord of my sin grieve, and reproacheth Thy mercy, and all my heavenly powers, and the guardian angel of my soul.
For verily, O Lord, I know wherefore, for that I am unworthy of Thine love; but worthy am I of every condemnation and suffering. But yet, whether Thou wilt or not, save me. For if Thou hast saved the righteous man, nothing greater; and if Thou hast pitied the pure in heart, nothing marvellous: for they are worthy to beseech Thee. But upon my sin do marvel, O Lord: that this Thine love may not overcome my weakness, exceeding unutterable Thy goodness and mercy: and as Thou wilt, order all things concerning me.
Thus desiring to lie upon the bed of repose,
they sang this troparion, tone 1:
Enlighten my eyes, O Lord Jesus Christ: that I may not fall into death, nor when the enemy saith: I have stiffened him against thee.
Glory to Thee, and to Thy Mother, and to the Holy Spirit.
Protector of my soul, O Lord, be Thou my God,
for I walk in the nets of many:
deliver me from them, and save me more closely,
for Thou art a lover of mankind.
And now and for ever. Amen.
O most Glorious Theotokos, and of the holy company of angels, unceasingly we sing with heart and tongue, confessing her, for truly she gave birth to God Incarnate, and ever praying for our souls.
Also heal thy own with thy kisses, and make the place of thy crucifixion from head to feet, likewise from all countries, saying:
Mercy to him that crieth:
Wenn du zu schlafen gehst, sprich:
In deinen Händen, Herr Jesus Christus, mein Gott, gebe ich meinen Geist: segne mich, erbarme dich meiner und gib mir das ewige Leben. Amen.
