Blessed be Thou, O High God and Lord, Who art above, granting to us Thy great and unsearchable, glorious and radiant, countless Creator in sleep for the repose of our weakness and weariness. We give Thee thanks, because Thou didst not destroy us with our lawlessnesses, but showed Thy love toward man by raising up those who lay down unexpectedly, that we might glorify Thy power. Therefore, we pray to Thine infinite goodness: enlighten our thoughts, O Teacher, and raise us from the lethargy of deep sleep; strengthen us, and fulfill Thy praise, that we may be able to sing unshakably and confess Thee, O God, the All-praised, the Eternal High Priest, with Thy Only-Begotten Son and Holy Spirit, now and ever, and unto ages of ages. Amen.

Mercy to Thee, O Lord. A midnight song to the Theotokos:

Blessed be Thy mercy, Lady; I beseech Thee, my merciful one. Guide me in the right path, upon the way of Thy commandments. Strengthen me for the song of praise, that my sleep may be burning with fervor. Bound by the chains of sin, release me through Thy prayers, O God. Keep me both night and day, preserving me from the enemy who seeks to destroy me. Born of the Life-giving God, Thou hast made me alive in death; and Thou, O Light of the Unseen, hast enlightened my soul that was blind. The wondrous grace of Thy hand has created for me a dwelling-place of true joy. A physician hast Thou born, heal Thou my soul from its long-lasting passions. Stirring up the tempests of life, direct me to the path of repentance. Deliver me from eternal fire and worm, and from Tartarus: that I may not be filled with joy in hell, for many sins. Make me new, O who hast promised by Thy ineffable mercy, without sin. Show me all the strange torments, and intercede for all those who call upon Thee. Grant me to partake of gladness with all the saints. Hearken, O Master, to the voice of Thy unworthy servant. Give me a heart that weeps in cleansing tears, purifying my soul's darkness. Unceasingly offer up from my heart to Thee, O Lady, and have compassion on me. Receive my prayerful service, and bring it before God with blessings. Exceeding the angel, Thou hast made me surpass in union. A light-bearing veil, guide me into Thy ineffable grace. With uplifted hands and earnestly praising, I am defiled yet pure. Deliver me from all uncleanness, clinging to Thee in prayer: to Him be honor and worship now and ever, and unto the ages of ages. Amen.
