Blessed be Thou, O High God and Lord, who dost create with Thyself in us a great and unsearchable, glorious and radiant, without number, giving to us sleep for the repose of our weakness and weariness from much labor. We give Thee thanks, because Thou didst not destroy us through our lawless deeds, but Thou lovedst man with common love, and raising up in Thine unexpected lying down, Thou glorifiedst Thy power. Therefore we pray Thy boundless goodness: enlighten our thoughts, O Teacher, and by our rising from the heavy sleep of sloth, fulfill Thy praise, that we may be able to sing unshakably and confess Thee, O God, the All-praised, the Eternal High Priest, with Thine Only-Begotten Son and Holy Spirit, now and ever, and unto the ages of ages. Amen.

Mercy to Thee, O Lord. A midnight song to the Theotokos:

Blessed be Thy mercy, Lady; I beseech Thee, my merciful One. Guide me in the right path, upon the way of Thy commandments. Strengthen me for the song of praise, that my sleep may be burning with fervor. Bound by the chains of sin, release me through Thy prayers, O God. Keep me both night and day, preserving me from the enemy who seeks to destroy me. Born of the Life-Giving Virgin, Thou hast made me alive in death; and as a new light born at midnight, Thou hast enlightened my soul that was blind. Strange is the handiwork of Thy mercy, O Lady, for Thou hast created a dwelling place for Thyself among men. Healer of the sick, heal my soul from its long-standing passions. Stirring me with the tempests of life, direct me to the path of repentance. Deliver me from eternal fire and worm, and from Tartarus: that I may not be filled with joy in hell, for many sins. Make me new, O Thou who hast promised through the unfeeling, unspeakable grace. Show me all manner of strange sufferings, and intercede for all those who call upon Thee. Give me the joy of Thy presence among all the saints. Hearken to the voice of Thy unworthy servant. Pour out upon me tears that cleanse my soul. Pray without ceasing from my heart, O Lady. Receive my prayerful service, and offer it in Thy divine glory. Exceeding an angel, Thou hast united me with the world. A bearer of light, Thou hast guided me into the very depths of Thy blessedness. With hands I lift up to Thee, and with steadfastness to praise, though defiled by sin, yet pure. Deliver me from all uncleanness, O Thou who art closely interceding: to Him be honor and worship now and ever, and unto the ages of ages. Amen.
