According to the testimony of the Rusik brothers and the cell of the Pechersk monks, who had the opportunity to observe the lifestyle of the elder and his disciple, Elder Hilarion and his disciple Savva held mental prayer, spent the night in vigil, served matins and liturgy in the morning, worked during the day (the monk was engaged in carpentry), observed strict fasting - they cooked food only on Saturday and Sunday, the rest of the time they made do with dry food. Saint Hilarion slept 2 hours a day: one hour standing, the second sitting on the floor.

Elder Hilarion Gruzin reposed on February 14, 1864 in Rusika, where he came to confess to the brethren. Anticipating his death, the saint bequeathed to the priest. Sava to bury him in a secret place, and when the time comes, “dig up the bones... take them to the cemetery of the Dionysiates monastery and mix them with the bones of other fathers” (Cherubim (Karambelas). 2000. P. 328). Since the Rusika brethren were adamant in their desire to venerate the relics of St. Hilarion, Hierarch. Savva took the teacher’s body out of the monastery at night and carried out his will (one of the supposed places of the first burial of Hilario the Georgian is the cell of the Apostle John the Theologian of the Iveron Monastery). However, the monks, due to the fact that “a rumor had spread among the Greeks that the elder’s body had not decayed and therefore the disciple was not digging it up,” advised the priest. Savva must reveal the relics of Hilarion, “otherwise the sin of blasphemy will fall on him.” On May 25, 1867, the fragrant relics were revealed and laid to rest in the monastery of the Little St. Anna.

Before the death of Hilarion, he asked the elders of Rusik “not to register a cell in the name of Father Savva...”. According to the behest of the elder Hierom. Savva, until his death († April 14, 1908), labored in kaliva in honor of the Resurrection in the monastery of the Little St. Anna.

Oct 17 2002 Priest. The Synod of the Georgian Church canonized Hilarion the Gruzin. In 2103, his name was included in the calendar of the Russian Orthodox Church.
