O great saint of Christ, our holy father Hermogenes! We earnestly come to you, a warm prayer book and unashamed representative before God, asking for consolation and help in our needs and sorrows. In the ancient time of temptation, when wickedness plagued our country, the Lord revealed you to the Church as His unshakable pillar and to the Russian people the shepherd of goodness, who laid down his soul for the sheep and drove away the fierce wolves. Now look down on us too, your unworthy child, who call upon you with a tender soul and a contrite heart. Our strength within us has become impoverished, and the enemy’s traps and snares have overwhelmed us. Help us, our intercessor! Confirm us in the holy faith: teach us to always keep the commandments of God and all the church traditions commanded to us from our father. Strengthen our blessed king, given to us by God, and teach us to love him unfeignedly.
Be our shepherd, the archpastor, the spiritual leader of the warrior, the sick doctor, the sad comforter, the persecuted intercessor, the youth’s mentor, a gracious father to all and a warm prayer book for everyone: for by your prayers we protect you, let us unceasingly sing and Let us glorify the all-holy name of the Life-Giving Trinity, Father and Son and Holy Spirit, forever and ever.
