When, children, should we pray to God? We always need to pray to God, because we always need God’s help. For this, there are short prayers in which we can ask God for help for good deeds. So, when we get down to business, then, having crossed ourselves, we must say: Lord, bless! With this short prayer we ask God to help us in the work we are taking on; whether to work or to study, Almighty God always helps us in every good deed. Then, if we are already tired, and the work is not finished yet, we need to say: help, Lord. Having finished the matter, we must thank God for His invisible help to us, saying: Glory to Thee, Lord. If you did something bad: did not listen to your parents or elders, offended someone, told a lie, took and spoiled someone else’s thing - you must immediately say: Lord, have mercy! Forgive me, Lord! Do not punish us for doing evil that You did not command us to do; but be merciful to us, Lord, and, despite our bad deeds, give us everything we ask of You.
In addition, children, in the morning and evening, before breakfast, lunch and dinner, and also after them, we always need to pray to God. You see how often we have to turn to God; perhaps more often than to his own father and mother. It is impossible to do otherwise, children: God created us, He gives us everything we need for life, He also watches over us, how we live, bad or good. God is our Heavenly Father, and all people are His children and brothers among themselves; God commanded people to call Himself Heavenly Father. So, children, we must always and in everything ask our relatives, father and mother, in order to live as they command, and in addition, we must often turn to Heavenly Father God, take care not to anger Him in anything and thus not to lose His love.
