In the Lord have I taken refuge, as my soul hath said: Thou hast covered me with a shield, as one of the birds; for all, O sinners, have laid snares, thou hast prepared arrows in thy quiver, to shoot at them in darkness with a right heart. But now thou hast accomplished it, they have broken through: what has the craftsman wrought? The Lord in his holy temple. The Lord on his throne hath shown himself: his eyes upon the needy he considereth, and proveth the sons of men. The Lord proveth the righteous and the unrighteous: he that loveth falsehood hateth his own soul. He waiteth for sinners in snares: fire and brimstone, and the breath of trouble are their portion. For the righteous the Lord hath loved: to see the face of righteousness is his desire.
