I believe, Lord, and confess, because Thou art truly the Son of God, living and coming into the world sinners to save me, the first among many. And I also believe that this is Thy most precious body, and this is Thy own precious blood. I pray Thee therefore: have mercy on me and forgive my transgressions, both voluntary and involuntary, by word, by deed, by knowledge and by ignorance, and grant me to partake unworthily of Thy most holy mysteries, in remission of sins, and into eternal life. Amen.
Come then and partake, they said within themselves the following metaphrastic stichos:
I approach the divine Eucharist. Sustainer, let not my unworthiness cause me to fall: for thou art fire that easily consumes the unworthy. But cleanse me from all uncleanness.
