The righteous Job seemed to suffer unfairly, having lived according to the ways of God all his life. Yet, Job never complained but only sought a deeper understanding of God. Job realized that mere human explanations for his condition were inadequate, and he responded to the Almighty and Sovereign God, “Therefore I abhor myself, and repent in dust and ashes.” Receiving a renewal of humility and trust, he then said: Alleluia.
