We see you, God-bearing fathers, who have kept all the commandments of Christ well, and who have diligently applied themselves to spiritual wisdom, and in your image we are instructing, we are shaking off soul-harming laziness from ourselves, to exploits But we extend ourselves spiritually, having you to the asceticism of spiritual teachers and leaders. For this reason we call you with gratitude:
Rejoice, tearful seeker of the bliss of heaven.
Rejoice, constant prayer to God for the peace of the whole world.
Rejoice, your souls have been nourished by fasting for salvation.
Rejoice, all-night vigils and long-lasting defeat of the invisible enemy who has overthrown the strong.
Rejoice, weeping for those who have quenched the kindled arrows of the devil’s temptations.
Rejoice, who sighed from the depths of the desert of Athos and spiritually fertilized it.
Rejoice, reverend fathers of Athos, for the zeal for the souls of our prayer books.
