In the judgment seat of Pilate stood God / before an unlawful judgment, / and from the hand of unrighteousness He hideth Himself, / Whose fear is upon all lands, and the heavens.

Thou didst stretch forth Thy holy hands in prayer,
for Thy precious and life-giving cross:
and Thou didst gather the tongues into knowledge of Thy Master,
bowing down to Thee, O glorious in Thy sufferings.

Blessed be the City of God: While tears and fountains of tears flow forth,
Not falsely, where Thy salvation comes,
For seeing drops of blood from Thy ribs fall,
And praising Thy pure prayer with glory.
