July 3: Saint Anatolios, Patriarch of Constantinople celebratestranslated

Today the Church honors the memory of Saint Anatolius, poet of Constantinople, and the Martyrs Hyacinthos, Theodotus, Theodotis, Diomedes, Eulambius and Asclepiados. Anatolius, who was an elder, representative of the Church of Alexandria in Vasilevousa, was made Patriarch in 449.
He was nominated to the throne by the Monophysite Patriarch of Alexandria, Dioscorus I, hoping that he would have him as an ally in theological malpractices. However, he did not manage to achieve his plans, because Anatolius was the first to sign the deposing of the malicious Dioscorus during the 4th Ecumenical Synod, held in Chalcedon (in 451) and included in the diptychs the name of Saint Flavian, Patriarch of Constantinople, whom Dioscorus had deposed during the robbery (ie invalid) Council of Ephesus in 449.
Anatolio's act teaches us how stable and prudent theologically we should be in cases where heretical thoughts appear and are formed into malicious teachings. So, the removal and separation from the normal and authentic teaching is done for the sake of the crew of the Church and the salvation of the faithful people.
